You can get the QuickBooks Desktop update in two different ways: automatic and manual. We will discuss how to download updates in Windows and Mac:

For Windows

Check the latest release of the program 

But you must check your software if it is already updated.

• Open the QB application and press Ctrl+1 or F2 to open the Product Information.

• Look for the current version and release number.

• Now, compare it to the latest available release:

  • QuickBooks 2024: R18_60

  • QuickBooks 2023: R17_35

1. Automatic update

a. Schedule automatic updates

• Head over to the Help menu.

• Click on the Update QuickBooks Desktop option.

• Jump to the Options tab.

• Choose Yes to enable automatic updates.

• Click on the Close button.

b. Run an immediate update

• Go to the Help menu.

• Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.

• Click on the Update Now tab.

• Choose Get Updates.

• When the updates finish, restart your QB program.

• And when you are asked to install the update, choose Install Now.

2. Update manually

• Close QuickBooks Desktop and head to the Downloads & Updates page. 

• Click on the Standard Setup.

• Choose Country, Product, and Version (Year).

• Tap Search and open the downloaded file to install the update.

• Restart your device when the installation is completed.

For Mac

Check the latest release of the program

• Open QB Desktop for Mac. 

• Press Command+1 to open the Product Information window.

• Now, compare it to the latest available release:

  • QuickBooks Mac Plus 2024: R10.2

  • QuickBooks Mac Plus 2023: R7.6

1. Update within QB

• Head over to the QuickBooks menu.

• Choose Check for QuickBooks Updates.

• Click on Install and Relaunch. 

• You can choose Automatically download and install updates in the future to ensure that future updates install automatically. 

2. Update manually

• Go to the Download & Updates page.

• After this, you need to click on Standard Setup.

• Next, you are required to choose your Country, Product, and Version (Year).

• In this step, tap on the Search option and click on Get the latest updates.

• Open the downloaded file to install the update and restart your system.
